DelaCruz & Wehrli Garner MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Accolades

Edison, NJ – Marist College’s Arquimedes DelaCruz and Manhattan College’s Lydia Wehrli were named the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week.
DelaCruz, a Senior from Wantagh, New York, broke his own school record and qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational on Friday. His time was 9:06.07, as he shaved over a half a second off his previous school record. It was the third straight year DelaCruz has qualified for IC4As in the steeplechase. His time currently ranks him 36th nationally, and 10th in the East Region, in the event.
Wehrli, a Sophomore from Anieres, Switzerland, broke her own school record in the hammer throw for the second time in as many weeks at the Dick Shea Invitational on Friday. After setting the mark with a toss of 57.16 meters (187 feet, six inches) at the ASU Invitational, Wehrli topped that effort on Friday, easily winning the competition with a 57.35 m (188’2) effort.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held on Sunday, May 5th at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
