Iona and Fairfield Men, Butler Women Lead After Round Two

Lake Buena Vista, FL – The Iona and Fairfield men are tied while the Butler University women’s team continues to lead after the second day of rounds at the 2013 MAAC Golf Championships at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fl.
The Stags posted a second round score of 295 for a two-day total of 588 to move into a first place tie with the Iona Gaels. The Gaels shot a 301 round on the day. Loyola remains in third with a two-day score of 598. Canisius is fourth (615), while Manhattan and Saint Peter’s are tied for fifth (620). Rider sits in seventh place (641), followed by Siena (646), and Niagara (660).
Iona’s Dylan Newman and Fairfield’s Steve Burak are the individual leader’s after 36 holes with a combined 140 score 140. Burak shot one under par while Newman held an even outing for today’s round. Brian McCormick of Loyola, Doug Hoppe of Iona and Richard Dowling of Fairfield are tied for third with an even par 144.
On the women’s side, Butler posted a team score of 316 for a two-day total of 625 to lead by 24 strokes over Boston University (649). Siena College sits in third after posting a combined score of 658. The University of Hartford is in fourth (679), followed by Fairfield (692), Niagara (713) and the University at Albany (789).
Jenna Peters of Butler University and Kristyna Pavlickova of Boston University remain atop the leader board posting a second round 73 and a two-day combined score of 148. Butler’s Isabella Lambert is in third with a two-day combined total of 150 followed by the University of Hartford’s Sarah Sideranko in fourth (157).
Competition will resume tomorrow with the men teeing off at 7:30 a.m. from the first tee, followed by the women at 7:40 a.m. from the tenth tee.
