The 2013 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Begins Friday

Edison, N.J. – The 2013 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship is set to begin Friday, May 3 at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field on the campus of Marist College.
The first semifinal puts two-time defending MAAC Champion; top-seed Canisius College against the fourth-seed Siena College at 4:30pm. The second semifinal features second-seed Fairfield University against third-seed and host Marist College at 7pm. The championship game will take place Sunday, May 5 at 1 p.m. All games can be viewed live on MAAC.TV.
The 2013 Women’s Lacrosse banquet will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 7pm and can be viewed live for free on MAAC.TV.
The two-time defending MAAC Champion, the Canisius College Golden Griffins enter the tournament as the top-seed with an overall record of 12-4 and a perfect league mark of 6-0. Their opponent, fourth-seed Siena College finished the 2013 campaign with an overall record of 4-11 and a 3-3 record in league play. Canisius and Siena previously met in Buffalo on April 10 with the Golden Griffs earning a 13-3 victory over the Saints.
The second-seed Fairfield University Stags finished the season with a 10-7 overall record and a 4-2 record in MAAC contest. They will take on host school, the third-seeded Marist College Red Foxes who completed their season with an overall record of 8-9 and 4-2 in league matches. The Stags earned the second seed in the tournament by way of a head-to-head victory on April 3 at Fairfield University with a thrilling 9-8 victory over the Red Foxes.
