George, Peters Earn March Golfer of the Month Awards

Edison, NJ – Loyola University’s Bart George was named the MAAC Men’s Golfer of the Month for March, while Butler University’s Jenna Peters earned the women’s award.
George was Loyola¹s top finisher in two of three tournaments throughout March, including leading the Greyhounds to a runner-up finish at the Whiting-Turner Towson Individual over the weekend. He finished the tournament tied for sixth place after carding a 9-over 225, with round scores of 74, 71 and 80, respectively. George began the month at the Charleston Shootout, finishing 44th of 84 competitors with a score of 231.
He then led the Greyhounds at the weather-shortened C&F Bank Intercollegiate, finishing the one-round tournament tied for fifth at 1-under 69. Throughout the month, George shot two rounds under par with a
75.00 scoring average, had two top-six finishes and a win-loss record of 300-52-10.
Peters was the top finisher for Butler in two tournaments and one dual match in March, including leading the Bulldog’s to a 1st place finish in the Bulldog Florida Invitational. She took the lead on the first day with a five-over-par 77 and then held the top spot with a 78 in the final round. In a dual match win over Green Bay, Peters finished first and shot a two-over-par 75 to lead the field. Earlier in March, Peters for the tied for first and then lost medalist honors in a three-way playoff at the Don Benbow Invitational. She grabbed the lead with an opening round three-over-par 75, before closing with an 80 and helping Butler to finish fourth as a team.
The 2013 Men's and Women's Golf Championships will be held April 26_28 at Disney's Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
