Iona to Face Stanford in NCAA Water Polo Championship

Iona Gaels, the 2013 MAAC Water Polo Champions, received a seventh seed in the 2013 NCAA Championship and will face off against the 2 seed Stanford Cardinal. The seeding was announced Monday evening during the NCAA Selection Show on NCAA.com.
The Gaels clinched the conference's automatic berth with a 12-9 victory over Wagner in the championship game. The Cardinal, are the two-time defending NCAA Champions. The two teams met in 2011 in Iona’s first ever NCAA Championship match, with Stanford defeating Iona.
The match is set to start on Friday, May 10 at 1:45pm in the first quarterfinal matchup of the day. The match will take place at Blodgett Pool on the campus of Harvard University with a live stream available on NCAA.com.
