Edison, NJ – Manhattan College’s Mohamed Koita & Iona College’s Marion Joly-Testault earned the final MAAC Outdoor Track & Field weekly awards.
Koita, a Senior from Cergy, France, joined the track team at the conclusion of basketball season, broke a 33-year-old school record while winning the men’s Eastern high jump at the 119th Penn Relays on Friday. He cleared 2.20 meters (seven feet, 2½ inches) on his second attempt to break Rich Alexander’s old mark, set in 1980. Koita also set a meet record, and he would’ve placed second in the Championship high jump with that effort. He’s currently ranked 12th in the NCAA and tied for 31st in the world in the event, and he also qualified for the World University Games with that jump.
Joly-Testault, a Senior from Gex, France, led Iona in the 10,000-meter championship event at the 2013 Penn Relays. She was the second collegiate finisher in the race. Joly-Testualt ran a personal best time of 34:32.40 finishing two seconds behind George Mason's Bethany Sachtleben.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held from Saturday, May 4th through Sunday, May 5th at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
