Men’s Varsity Four
The Red Foxes’ Varsity Four boat won its race on Sunday at the Sacred Heart Invitational by nearly nine seconds, finishing ahead of Iona with a time of 6:53.4. The Marist boat consisted of Chris Leonard, Seaton Drebitko, Jacob Enright, Dan Nesfeder and Harrison Drouin-Reed.
Women’s Varsity Four
The Loyola boat of Andrea Almeida, Eleni Papadatos, Kimberly Seckler, Clara Coleman, and cox Lindsay Superczynski finished third at the Occoquan Sprints in Fairfax, Va. The Greyhounds maneuvered the 2,000m course with a time of 7:37.15.
Men’s Varsity Eight
The Marist men's Varsity Eight Boat had a great weekend, finishing either first or second in both of its races. The boat finished second in its race on Saturday, just 2.2 seconds behind the first-place boat from Trinity, finishing in a time of 5:41.9. They were a full 19 seconds ahead of the USCGA in third place. At the Sacred Heart Invitational on Sunday, the same squad led the way, finishing in a time of 5:39.4, as Marist took the top three spots. The boat consisted of Chris Leonard, Harrison Drouin-Reed, Seaton Drebitko, Chris Behnke, Jacob Enright, Dan Nesfeder, Matt Klos, Doug Woolley and Cameron Schuh.
Women’s Varsity Eight
At the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships on Saturday afternoon at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla., the Canisius College varsity eight finished third overall in a field of ten crews. The Golden Griffins' varsity eight recorded the fastest time among all Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) crews competing the weekend of April 5-7. The Griffs' varsity eight crossed the finish line at 7:52.3 with a 3.3 second lead over MAAC affiliate Jacksonville (7:55.6). The win marked the Griffs' third of the season over a MAAC opponent with victories over both Fairfield and Loyola at the Jesuit Invitational to open the spring schedule. Taking the top spots in the varsity eight race were a pair of nationally-ranked Division II opponents in No. 1 Barry (7:29.5) followed by No. 6 Nova Southeastern (7:37.6).
Men’s Second Varsity Eight
Marist's Second Varsity Eight boat won its Saturday race in a tight finish, just edging out the Trinity boat by a 1.83 second margin, finishing in a time of 5:55.2. They finished second on Sunday at the Sacred Heart Invitational, improving their time from Saturday to 5:47.8. They finished ahead of the top boats from both Iona and Fairfield. The Second Varsity Eight squad consisted of Emma Flynn, Conor Wiggins, Matt Michaud, Kyle Mikesh, Chris Bissetta, Tyler Sawyer, Chris Lorenz, Billy Hawxhurst and Ben Smith.
Women’s Second Varsity Eight
At Sacred Heart on Sunday, the Marist Second Varsity Eight boat cruised to a 12-second victory over the boat from Robert Morris, racing in a time of 6:49.6. They also finished over 20 seconds ahead of MAAC opponents Fairfield and nearly a minute ahead of Iona. The Red Foxes' squad consisted of Erica Bogdan, Brenna Logue, Samantha Blau, Brittany Morrisey, Kira Melendez, Annie Devorak, Nora Culhane, Danielle Villa and Jenn Flanagan.
