Seeds Set for 2013 MAAC Softball Championship

The seeds are set for the 2013 MAAC Softball Championship, which will take place May 9-11 at Softball Park at Gartland Field on the campus of Marist College.
Siena College and Fairfield University earned a share of the 2013 MAAC regular season title after both teams finished 12-4 in league play. Siena won the tie breaker with Fairfield, so the Saints will be the number one seed and the Stags will be the number two seed. Marist finished at 10-6 in conference action and earned the number three seed in this year's tournament. By virtue of another tie breaker, Niagara University claimed the fourth seed after finishing in a three-way tie at 9-7 with Manhattan College and Iona College.
To start this year's championship, #2 Fairfield will face #3 Marist at noon on Thursday, May 9. Following the first game at approximately 2 p.m., #1 Siena will take on #4 Niagara.
On Friday, May 10, game three will feature the winner of game one vs. the winner of game two at 11 a.m. Game four is an elimination game between the loser of game one vs. the loser of game two at 1 p.m. In game five at 3 p.m., the loser of game three will face the winner of game four in a second elimination game.
The championship round is slated to conclude on Saturday, May 11, when the winner of game three will take on the winner of game five at noon. If needed, a seventh and deciding game will take place at 2 p.m.
All the games of the championship can be viewed on MAAC.TV. In addition, the 2013 MAAC Softball Awards Show, which will take place on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m., is also available for viewing on MAAC.TV free of charge.

The winner of the MAAC Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Softball Championship. The NCAA selection show will take place on Sunday, May 12 at 10 p.m., live on ESPNU.
