DETROIT (5/5/13) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team, the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champions, will play at No. 2 seeded Notre Dame in the NCAA First Round. The Titans and Irish are set to meet on Saturday, May 11 at 5:00 p.m. at Arlotta Stadium.
Detroit (5-9) is making its first trip to the NCAA Tournament, in just the fifth year of the programs existence, after earning its first conference title on Sunday. Detroit defeated top-seeded Marist, 7-6, in the MAAC Semifinal before earning an 11-10 overtime victory against third-seeded Siena to win the title.
Notre Dame enters the NCAA Tournament with a 10-4 record after losing to top-seeded Syracuse, 9-3, in the BIG EAST Semifinals on Thursday (May 2). The Titans and Irish have never met previously in men's lacrosse.
The game can be seen live on ESPNU and WatchESPN.com on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The winner of the game will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinal that will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, May 19.
