Two MAAC Athletes Finish at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Edison, N.J. – Manhattan College’s Mohamed Koita and Tom Bechert both completed their events at the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Koita, a 6-4 senior from Cergy, France, finished 16thoverall in the High Jump and earned Second Team All-America status. Koita cleared his 16th place jump with a height of 2.15 meters (seven feed, ½ inch). He is the 30th Jasper All-American in the past twenty years in the sport of Track and Field.
Bechert, a 6-3 senior from Munich, Germany, withdrew from competition in the Decathlon due to injury. He was in 23rd place overall, amassing 3500 points after the first day of competition. Bechert holds the Manhattan school record in the Decathlon with 7767 points.
Iona College's Mitch Goose will compete in the 5,000-meter run on June 8.
