Siena To Face Memphis in Old Spice First Round
EDISON, NJ – The Siena College men’s basketball team will face Memphis in the first round of the 2013 Old Spice Classic, on Thanksgiving Day, at the HP Field House at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, FL. The bracket has been set for the tournament, with the Siena-Memphis contest one of four first-round contests on Thanksgiving, all to be televised by ESPN2.
The 2013 Old Spice Classic features eight teams playing 12 games over three days, Nov. 28, 29 and Dec. 1, in the bracket-format tournament. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through the bracket. The two teams that remain unbeaten through the first two rounds will play in the championship game on Sunday, Dec. 1.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is serving as the Old Spice Classic’s sponsoring conference for the seventh straight year. Sponsors include Old Spice, Samsonite and ESPN’s Wide World of Sports.
Siena will be under the direction of first year head coach Jimmy Patsos, who turned around former MAAC member Loyola’s program. The Saints’ challenging early season schedule will also include a non-bracketed Old Spice game on Nov. 24 when then travel to Purdue.
Other Old Spice Classic first-round games include Purdue vs. Oklahoma State, Butler vs. Washington State and LSU vs. Saint Joseph’s.
ESPN2 will televise six of the tournament games, including the four opening round contests and the championship, on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. ESPNU will televise four games, and ESPN and ESPN3 will each televise one game.
