MAAC Track & Field Student-Athletes Honored For Academics by USTFCCCA

New Orleans, La. – Six teams and seven track and field student-athletes were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their performances in the classroom.
The USTFCCA also announced the Division I All-Academic Track and Field teams. Iona College (3.20), Manhattan College (3.07) and Rider University (3.03) all earned a spot on the Men’s team. Iona College (3.44), Manhattan College (3.22) and Rider University (3.37) also earned a place on the women’s team.
Individual All-Academic awards were also given out by the USTFCCCA. To qualify, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Iona had an impressive six student-athletes make the Men’s and Women’s USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Mario Joly-Testault and Regina Neumeyer are members of the women’s team, while fellow teammates Matthew Bayley, Daniel Clorley, Mitch Goose and Andrew Kowalsky garnered a spot on the men’s team. Manhattan’s Tom Bechert earned a spot on the men’s team as well.
