EDISON, N.J. -- Four games on Friday night (Jan. 10) and five more on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 12) highlight the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming weekend.
Included in Friday night’s schedule is a matchup of two teams tied for third place in the MAAC, Rider at Canisius at 7:00. Both teams sport 3-1 league records and are in a three-way tie for third along with Iona. The winner will move into tie for first place along with Manhattan and Quinnipiac, who enter the weekend with 4-1 records in league play and do not play until Sunday.

Also on Friday night, Marist (5-9, 2-2) will take its five game winning streak to Siena (6-9, 2-2) for a 7:00 p.m. contest. At 7, Monmouth (7-8, 1-3) will play at Niagara (4-11, 1-3) and Fairfield (3-12, 0-5) will visit Iona (6-7, 3-1). A win for the Gaels would move them into a tie for first place as well.
Niagara features the MAAC’s leading scorer, Antoine Mason, who is averaging 28.7 points per game, while Iona’s Sean Armand is the league’s third leading scorer at 20.4 points per outing.
On Sunday afternoon, Siena will host Manhattan; Marist will visit Iona; Rider will visit Nagara; Canisius hosts Monmouth, and Quinnipiac visits Saint Peter’s. Sunday’s games are all scheduled for 2 p.m. tip times with the exception of the Quinnipiac-Saint Peter’s game, set for a 2:30 p.m. start.
