EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference will resume its ESPN broadcast package with three games this week.
The package gets underway again on Thursday, Jan. 16, with a men’s and women’s doubleheader. In the first game, the Siena women’s basketball team will play at Fairfield at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Niagara men’s team at Fairfield at 8:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live by ESPN3.
On Friday, Jan. 17, two teams tied for first place in the men’s basketball race will be featured in the MAAC’s first ESPNU broadcast of the season, when Canisius visits Iona at 9 p.m.
In Thursday night’s doubleheader, the Fairfield women’s team, which enters this week of action in third place with a 4-2 record, will take on an improving Siena team at 6:00 p.m. In the nightcap, the offensive-minded Niagara men’s squad, the third-highest scoring team in the MAAC that features the league’s leading scorer in Antoine Mason (28.3 ppg), will battle Fairfield, which is the second stingiest team in the conference at 69.9 points per outing, and leads the league in field goal percentage defense.
On Friday, two of the three teams who entered the week with 5-1 records, will do battle when the Golden Griffins face Iona at 9:00. Three of the MAAC’s highest scoring players will be featured, as Billy Baron is currently second in the league with a 22.9 average for Canisius, while Iona’s tandem of Sean Armand (19.1 ppg) and A.J. English (18.2 ppg) enter the week as the No. 5 and No. 6 leading scorers in the MAAC.
