Canisius Swimmers, Marist Divers Named MAAC Performers of the Week

Edison, N.J. ? Wyatt Sintay and Marissa Oakey of Canisius College are named this week’s swimmers of the week while Marist College’s Josh Dodway and Kimberly Tobias earn MAAC Diver of the Week accolades.

Sintay, a 5-7 freshman from Seattle, Wash. swam to a pair of individual victories in the Griffs’ win over Gannon on Saturday. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Sintay set a new Koessler Athletic Center Pool record with a time of 2:09.42. He won the event by more than six seconds. Sintay followed up that performance with a win in the 200-yard IM, posting a time of 1:59.25. Sintay was also part of the Griffs’ 400-yard medley relay team that took second in the meet.

The MAAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week goes to Oakey, a junior Griff from North Tonawanda, N.Y. She earned a pair of individual victories in the Canisius win over Gannon on Saturday and kicked the meet off by taking the top spot in the women’s 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.91. Later, Oakey would win the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.54. She was also part of the Canisius 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished first.

Earning MAAC Men’s Diver of the week, Dodway from Marist College dominated the one- and three-meter dives, claiming the top three spots in both events in Marist’s meet against Southern Connecticut State. For the Red Foxes, Dodway a sophomore from Niskayuna, N.Y. tallied the most points between both events, adding a total of 13 points to the board for Marist. Dodway won the one-meter dive with a score of 286.65, while taking second place in the three-meter dive, just 1.50 points behind first with a score of 307.05.

Tobias, the MAAC Women’s Diver of the Week from Marist College was a double-winner on Saturday in Marist’s 189-101 victory over Southern Connecticut State. The ?junior from San Jose, California claimed a score of 269.2 in the three-meter dive. For the one-meter dive, she took a score of 279.45 which was a personal best high score for her career.
