Fairfield and Siena Women's Basketball set to Meet on ESPN3

EDISON, N.J. – The Fairfield University Stags will host the Siena College Saints at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. on Thursday night at 6 p.m. The broadcast will be featured live on ESPN3 as part of the MAAC ESPN broadcast package.

The Fairfield Stags are ranked third in the current league standings at 4-2 in MAAC play and 9-6 overall. The Stags lost to second ranked Marist 60-39 in their last contest on January 11 in a home contest at Alumni Hall to snap a short two game win streak. Fairfield leads the league in rebounding defense and ranks second in three point field goal percentage. They also rank third in the league in scoring defense and field goal percentage. Senior forward Katie Cizynski ranks sixth in the MAAC with 14.4 points per game and fourth in rebounding with an 8.7 per game average. Senior center Brittany Obi-Tabot is tied for sixth in the league at 6.3 in rebounding average and 10th in field goal percentage, shooting 46.5%. Junior guard Felicia DaCruz ranks third in the MAAC in assists to turnover ratio and in assists per contest averaging 5.1. DaCruz has not had a game this season with more turnovers than assists. Senior guard Alexys Vazquez ranks third in the MAAC averaging 2.9 made three pointers per game and fourth in three point percentage shooting 46.3%.   

The Siena Saints are currently last in the MAAC at 1-5 and 6-9 overall. The Saints have dropped their last three straight games after starting off 1-2 in league play. Siena leads the league in steals per contest, offensive rebounds per game, and offensive rebounding percentage. Junior guard Tehresa Coles leads the Saints in scoring, averaging 8.9 points per game and ranks second in the MAAC in steals per game with 1.9 a contest. Coles also ranks ninth in the league in rebounding and is the only true guard in the top ten of this category. Freshman forward Meghan Donohue ranks second in the league in field goal percentage shooting 58.2% and 10th in the league in rebounding averaging 6.1 per game. Freshman guard Emia Willingham ranks fourth in the MAAC with a 1.8 steals per game average. Siena has had three different freshmen named MAAC Rookie of the Week on four separate occasions this season which includes Donohue twice, Willingham, and Brianna Logan.        

The last time Fairfield and Siena met, was in the 2013 MAAC Championship quarterfinals where the sixth seeded Saints beat the third seeded Stags 52-48. Fairfield swept both regular season games from Siena in a span of two weeks last season. The Stags took the opener, 66-59, in Loudonville, N.Y. on January 10, and then won the next meeting 50-43, at Alumni Hall on January 25.
