MAAC Rookie of the Week

Victoria Rampado, Niagara

Fr., F, 6-2, Niagara Falls, Ont./ A.N. Myer

The Niagara Falls, Ontario native helped the Niagara Purple Eagles split their home conference weekend by sparking a second-half comeback against the Monmouth Hawks on Sunday. With Niagara trailing 22-12 to the Hawks coming out of halftime, Rampado took over and single-handedly won the game for the Purple Eagles. She scored seven straight points in the early going before contributing 14 points including the bookend baskets of a six-minute, 19-8 run that tied the game at 44-44 with less than three minutes remaining. The freshman scored 21 of her game and career-high 23 points in the second half and finished the game 9-for-13 from the floor, a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe, added two blocks and a steal. In just 16 minutes in the Kid’s Day game against Marist on Friday, she hit both opportunities from the free-throw line and pulled in seven rebounds.
