MAAC Begins New and Exciting Partnership with Sport Changes Life

Edison, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announces it has initiated a new partnership with the Sport Changes Life Foundation for the foreseeable future.

 Sport Changes Life (SCL), specializes in inspiring young people to excel to their highest level in personal, sporting and academic domains through a unique international scholarship program, the values of sporting excellence and community service.

 Brendan Wootten SCL Board chair stated,

 “ We are privileged to have this partnership with the MAAC. We are excited to have the opportunity to select two outstanding student athletes from such an elite group of colleges. Changing lives and making a positive impact is what we aim to achieve and we look forward to embracing the best the MAAC has to offer in our unique international program”.

 As a part of their agreement with the MAAC, Sport Changes Life will provide two full scholarships each year to MAAC scholar-athletes who wish to pursue advanced study in graduate programs at top universities in Ireland while contributing to community service programs for youth at risk and continuing to play their sport. The “MAAC Sport Changes Life Victory Scholars” will be trained to coach and mentor young people at risk in local communities gaining and sharing invaluable life experience, as well as progressing their academic and life goals.

 The MAAC takes pride in its mission to provide excellence in athletics and academics,” notes Richard J. Ensor. The partnership with Sport Changes Life will allow MAAC student-athletes to participate in a teaching environment while pursuing studies in  international graduate programs in prestigious Irish Universities in Ireland.

Sport Changes Life, headquartered in Belfast, Ireland established the program in 2007 and developed the organization in 2010 as a foundation. The foundation has since opened a U.S. office in East Rutherford, N.J.  Sport Changes Life has years of experience dealing with and providing mentorship to at-risk youth through the values of teamwork, dedication, commitment, hard work and respect.
