Edison, N.J. – The 2014 MAAC Water Polo season is here with four of the MAAC Water Polo League teams competing in action. Iona participated in the Michigan Kick-Off in Ann Arbor last weekend and Marist, Siena, Villanova, and Wagner play in their first games this weekend.

The remainder of the conference will begin their seasons next weekend when VMI travels to Princeton to face Harvard, and Saint Francis Brooklyn heads down to West Virginia to take on Gannon.

This season the Gaels of Iona College look for their fifth conference title and fourth consecutive MAAC championship. Wagner College, who has fallen to Iona the past three seasons in the MAAC championship, will look to dethrone the current champion.

Beginning February 19th, the MAAC will begin to name the conference’s selection of weekly award winners. Each week throughout the season an offensive player, defensive player, and rookie of the week will be chosen for the awards.

The 2014 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be held on April 26th and 27th at McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
