Joy Adams Named Corvias ECAC Co-Player of the Week for the Second Time

EDISON, N.J. - Iona College sophomore forward Joy Adams has been named Corvias ECAC Metro/Upstate Division I Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Iona College sophomore forward Joy Adams picked up three consecutive double-doubles this week to help the Gaels to a trio of wins in MAAC play, averaging 17.7 points, 13 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. The three victories pushed Iona's conference record to 10-0 and extended its program record winning streak to 16 games. Adams shot 52.9 percent from the field (18-34) and 93.3 percent (14-15) from the foul line over the three games. She opened the week with a 16 point, 16 rebound effort against Manhattan. Adams connected on five shots from the field and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. Of her 16 rebounds, six came on the offensive end. On the road against Monmouth, Adams scored 21 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field, including 2-for-3 from behind the arc, and a near perfect 7-for-8 from the line. She pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out three assists in the victory as well. Adams wrapped up the week with a 16 point, 10 rebound effort against Saint Peter's. She shot 53.8 percent (7-13) from the field in the win, and had her second straight three assist game. Overall this season, Adams has picked up 17 double-doubles, matching her total from a season ago and ranks in the top five nationally in the category.
Adams shares the award with sophmore forward Shereesha Richards of University at Albany who recorded her Albany single-season record 12th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She also led her conference in scoring at 21.0 points per game and field goal percentage at 65.2 percent.
