Gomez and Baker Named Corvias ECAC Men's Swimmer & Diver of the Week

Edison, N.J. – Saint Peter’s University Freshman Jonathan Gomez has been named Corvias ECAC Division I Metro/Upstate Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and junior Jacob Baker of Marist College has been named Corvias ECAC Division I Metro/Upstate Men’s Diver of the Week.
Gomez helped Saint Peter’s to a pair of MAAC victories this week against Manhattan and Iona after winning five individual events and two relays. The freshman won the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:56.71 and the 100 backstroke finishing in 53.70 while also swimming the opening leg of the winning 200 medley relay while posting a time of 1:36.92 against Manhattan College. Swimming against Iona College, Gomez then won the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.57, the 200 backstroke posting a time of 1:56.76 and the 500 freestyle finishing with a time of 4:45.31 before opening the winning 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.37. Gomez has taken first place in 19 individual events this season, along with 5 team relay victories.
The Red Foxes junior diver Jacob Baker took first place on the three-meter board with a score of 296.63, while also taking third on the one-meter board scoring a 270.68. He posted 12 points for the Red Foxes in their 177-118 win over Seton Hall. Baker has 2 first place victories on the diving boards this season.
