Monmouth's Murphy, Rider's Howard and Sanchez Honored as Wilson Weekly Award Winners

Wilson Offensive Player of the Week
Erica Murphy, Monmouth

Murphy, who has registered five of her six goals on the year in the last four matches, led the Hawks with three goals and six points in a pair of road wins on the week. The sophomore forward headed in the game-winning goal (the third of her career) with 36 seconds left in the first overtime session off a cross from classmate Julie Spracklin to complete the rally in a 2-1 victory at Manhattan on Wednesday night. Murphy capped the week by scoring a pair of goals in Monmouth’s 4-0 win at first-place Fairfield on Saturday night, which vaulted the Hawks into first place in the current standings and snapped the Stags’ 20-game home unbeaten streak. Murphy is now tied for the team lead with six goals, and ranks third with a career best 13 points. In a pair of starts, the forward attempted eight shots, five of which were on frame.
Wilson Defensive Player of the Week
Bethany-May Howard, Rider
So., GK, 5-7, Glastonbury, England/Bridgewater College
Goalkeeper Bethany-May Howard allowed just one goal and made six saves in a 2-0 week for the Broncs, shutting out Canisius in a 5-0 victory and defeating Quinnipiac 2-1. The shutout was the fourth of the season for Howard, who wins the award for the third time this year.
Wilson Rookie of the Week
Carissa Sanchez, Rider

Freshman forward Carissa Sanchez made her first two starts of the season last week in two victories for the Broncs. On Wednesday against Canisius, Sanchez scored her first collegiate goal in a 5-0 shutout win. On Saturday against Quinnipiac, she added a game-winning goal for her second goal of the season and her career in the 2-1 victory.
