EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Council of Presidents has approved the addition of the University of Dayton as an associate member in women’s golf. Dayton will join MAAC women’s golf for the 2014-2015 season.

“The University of Dayton is a great addition to MAAC women’s golf and we look forward to them competing in this April’s championship at the Walt Disney World Resort Magnolia Golf Course,” notes Richard Ensor, MAAC Commissioner. “The MAAC golf programs have shared values that seek excellence in academics and athletics, and the University of Dayton supports these same aspirations.”

"I would like to thank MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor and all of the league's Council of Presidents and athletic directors for welcoming the University of Dayton women's golf team into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which will enhance the experience of our student-athletes,” said University of Dayton Vice President/Director of Athletics Tim Wabler. “We appreciate this opportunity for our women's golf program, which allows our student-athletes to be associated with and compete against institutions with similar golf programs."

The Dayton Flyers are led by head coach Sally Kosters. Kosters is in her ninth year as head coach and leads a team comprised of three seniors, three juniors, one sophomore and three freshmen. The team returns 2013-14 leading scorer Mika Suntay, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, who has a career average of 79.37 strokes per round.

"The Dayton women's golf team is very excited to join the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference where we look forward to very competitive play with other programs similar to our own,” stated Kosters. “I know when the team hears that the conference championship will be on the Magnolia Course at Disney, each member of the team will be stepping up their game right now in order to make the conference travel team next spring. I'm looking forward to seeing Dayton do well in our new conference."

The MAAC hosts the annual Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The championships will take place from April 24-26.
