OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Manhattan's Aislinn McIlvenny (Pleasant Valley, N.Y. / Arlington) has been selected as one of 10 NCAA® women's soccer finalists for the prestigious 2014 Senior CLASS Award®. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

In her final season in Riverdale, McIlvenny has been a force to be reckoned with and leads the Jaspers while ranking second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with eight goals to go along with three assists while having a hand in 11 of Manhattan's 15 goals. Additionally, her four game-winning tallies pace the 10-team circuit.

An exercise science major, McIlvenny owns a 3.75 grade point average and is on target to graduate in December. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team in 2013 and is a two-time MAAC All-Academic team member. In the spring 2014 semester, McIlvenny earned a 3.94 grade point average.

McIlvenny and her father Kieran have also helped spearhead the Kickin' Back initiative at Gaelic Park this season. Lightly used soccer items such as balls, shoes, shirts and shorts have been collected all season and been donated to Kickin' Back, which aims to help ensure that the children of Namibia are well-dressed for their soccer season.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

All 10 finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 women’s candidates announced in September. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through November 24. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup® championships in December. For more information on the candidates, visit seniorCLASSaward.com.
