Mallory Illsley, Canisius

Senior forward Mallory Illsley had a great week for the Golden Griffins, leading the team to two victories, including a playoff clinching victory over Manhattan on Saturday. The senior from Bingamton, N.Y., had an assist on the game winning goal in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory against Marist. Illsley would also have a major impact in the most important game of the season for the Blue and Gold, as the senior recorded four shots, an assist on the Griffs second goal and scored the game winning goal against Manhattan on Saturday, leading Canisius to the postseason tournament.
Wilson Defensive Player of the Week
Brigid St. Leger, Canisius
Sr., GK, 5-9, Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango
Senior Brigid St. Leger had a solid week in goal for the Griffs helping lead the team to their first berth in the MAAC Championship playoffs since 2012. The goalkeeper from Cazenovia, N.Y., started what was the most important game of the season for the Griffs on Saturday as the team took on Manhattan at home. St. Leger recorded five saves and played all 90 minutes in net for the Blue and Gold and also shut out the visiting Jaspers, her third shutout of the season.
Wilson Rookie of the Week
Samantha Gagliano, Canisius
Fr., F, 5-7, Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon
Freshman Samantha Gagliano scored her first collegiate goal in Wednesday’s game against Marist, leading the Griffs to a 3-1 victory and one game closer to a playoff berth. The freshman also had a big game on Saturday afternoon, as the Blue and Gold were essentially in a play-in game to get in the MAAC Championship playoffs. The freshman forward from Palmyra, N.Y. started the game for Canisius and recorded an assist on what would be the game winning goal for the Golden Griffins, helping the team clinch a berth in the playoffs.
