Fairfield Sweeps October Golfer of the Month Awards

EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University sweeps the second MAAC Golfer of the Month Awards. Ricky Dowling earned the MAAC Men’s Golfer of the Month for October and Olivia Brooks earned the honor on the women’s side.
At the 2014 ECAC Championships on September 29-30, Dowling captured the individual crown. Dowling set a new competition course record with a final round 64 (-8) at the Lyman Orchards-Robert Trent Jones Course in Middlefield, Conn. The men’s golf team finished in second place with a collective score of 582 (288-294), just five strokes behind team champion University of Rhode Island. Dowling paced the Stags on the final day of competition, taking nine strokes off his first round score. The senior finished with an overall score of 139, to win ECAC All-Tournament Team honors.
Brooks, a native of Sturbridge, Mass., captured the individual title after carding a two-round score of 154 (79-75) at the 2014 ECAC Championships on September 29-30. Brooks shot a second-round 75, her tournament best round, and earned ECAC All-Tournament Team honors. She paced the Stags to capture the team crown, with a collective 640 (326-314) on the Lyman Orchards-Robert Trent Jones Course in Middlefield, Conn.
At the Delaware State Invitational on October 5-6, Brooks shot a two-round score of 161 (82-79) to tie her for sixth overall. Brooks finished strong, helping the Stags to a second consecutive team crown, with a collective two-day team score of 630 (305-325) at the Queenstown Harbor Golf Course in Harbortown, Md.
At the Quinnipiac Invitational on October 20-21, Brooks carded a two-round score of 154 (75-79) to tie her for third overall. Brooks paced the Stags to a third team crown this fall, with a collective two-day team score of 649 (318-331) on the par-70, 5,855 yard, TPC River Highlands Course in Cromwell, Conn.
The 2015 Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will be held April 23-26 at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
