Gilbert Kirui, Iona, Cross Country, Fr., Keringet, Kenya/Chabara
In his Maroon & Gold debut, Iona College men's cross country freshman Gilbert Kirui led the Gaels to a third place finish at the third place finish at the Panorama Farms Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia. Kurui's performance earned him MAAC and ECAC Runner of the Week accolades.
Kirui finished second overall to lead the Gaels at Virginia. Kirui finished just 2.5 seconds behind the race winner from Auburn. He completed the 8k course with a time of 23:54.5. Iona finished seven points behind first place Virginia.
Jessica Broadbent, Fairfield, Women's Soccer, Back, Sr., 5-8, North Haven, Conn./North Haven
Senior Jessica Broadbent has maintained a GPA of 3.6 in Fairfield's accounting program. Broadbent is a two-time MAAC All-Academic team selection and was selected to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll last season. Also a math minor, Broadbent has earned Deans List recognition several times. On the field, Broadbent has eight career assists including three this season.
