EDISON, N.J. – Monmouth University sophomore goalkeeper Eric Klenofsky was named Division I men’s soccer “Defensive Player of the Week” by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Klenofsky, who was selected by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as its Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, posted his 11th and 12th shutouts of the season against Saint Peter’s and Siena this week. He made four saves against the Peacocks and tied his career high with seven in the MAAC Quarterfinals against the Saints. The 180 scoreless minutes helped Klenofsky improve his NCAA Division I leading goals against average and save percentage to 0.36 and .907, respectively. With Klenofsky as the Hawks’ last line of defense, Monmouth allowed just two goals in MAAC play, the fewest in at least the last 10 years (as far back as complete MAAC stats are available). With Klenofsky in net last season, the Hawks allowed three goals in MAAC play.

Klenofsky has been chosen as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
