Marist and Siena Earn Top Seeds in the MAAC Volleyball Championship

EDISON, N.J. – The seeds are set for the 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship, to be held Nov. 20-22 at ESPN Wide World of Sports HP Field House in Orlando, Florida.
The Marist College Red Foxes (23-5, 15-3) earn the top overall seed in the field after claiming its second consecutive regular season league title. By earning the number one seed, the Red Foxes will receive a first round bye and will play their first match in the quarterfinal round on Nov. 20 at 5:00pm on the main court against the winner of eighth seed Iona College (8-22, 5-13) and ninth seed Saint Peter’s University (6-21, 3-15) which takes place Nov. 20 at 11:00 am on the auxiliary court.
Siena College (16-14, 14-4) claims the second seed in the field and a first round bye as well. The Saints will open up their tournament action in the quarterfinal round on Nov. 20 at 5:00pm on the auxiliary court against the winner of the seventh seed Canisius College (8-19, 8-10) and tenth seed Quinnipiac University (2-29, 0-18) which takes place on Nov. 20 at 11:00 am on the main court and will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
The final two quarterfinal matches are set for Nov. 20 at 2:00pm and feature third seed Manhattan College (20-11, 13-5) and sixth seed Niagara University (13-16, 9-9) meeting on the main court with the match being broadcast live on ESPN3, and fourth seed Fairfield University (17-11, 13-5) and fifth seed Rider University (17-15, 10-8) matching up on the auxiliary court.
The championship will continue on Friday, Nov. 21 with two consolation matches at 11:00am on the main and auxiliary courts and two more consolation matches at 2:00pm on the main and auxiliary courts. Friday will also feature the two semifinal matches airing live on ESPN3 and taking place at 5:00pm and 8:00pm on the main court.
The championship will continue on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11:00am with the fifth place match being held on the auxiliary court and the third place match taking place on the main court and broadcasting live via ESPN3. The championship will conclude with the title match at 2:00pm on ESPN3 at the main court.
