HAMDEN, CONN. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team was ranked No. 16 in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major Poll, announced on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 by coaches on the select committee. This marks the second consecutive week in which Quinnipiac is ranked in the Top 25. The Bobcats are 3-2 overall, but have faced three schools ranked in the mid-major poll as well as the No. 1 nationally-ranked team Notre Dame.

Quinnipiac stands as the lone MAAC institution currently ranked in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll. On the strength of their wins over Army, Hampton and Holy Cross, the Bobcats continue to challenge themselves in the non-conference with looming showdowns against Alabama, Albany (No. 8 in mid-major poll), Hartford (receiving votes) and either Florida Gulf Coast (No. 5) or Cal State Northridge (receiving votes) at the Hawk Classic in late December.

The Bobcats feature two players averaging double figures in Jasmine Martin (Sicklerville, N.J.) and Val Driscoll (Stoughton, Mass.).

Martin is tied for ninth in the MAAC with a 14 points per game scoring average. Earlier this month, she became the 13th player in program history to score 1300 career points and is currently riding a four-game double figure scoring streak. Driscoll, the Bobcats' graduate student transfer from Michigan, has made an immediate impact with 12 points per game and seven rebounds per game averages. Quinnipiac reaped the benefits of a career game for Driscoll on Monday against Holy Cross where she notched 20 points and 15 rebounds, both single-game career highs, on her way to first double-double of her career.

The College Insider Mid-Major poll featured James Madison in the top slot, taking 30 first place votes. Gonzaga claimed second with the lone remaining first place vote, Green Bay garnered third, while Princeton and Florida Gulf Coast rounded out the top five.

The Bobcats return to action for their fourth and final game in the Hall of Fame Women's Challenge on Sunday, Nov. 30th as the Bobcats will take on the Southeastern Conference's Alabama Crimson Tide. Tip-off will be at 11:00 A.M. at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
