Iona Women's Cross Country Earn No.17 Rank in Poll

EDISON, N.J. – Iona College has earned a national ranking for the first time since 2006. The Gaels currently rank No. 17 nationally in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Coaches’ Poll. The Gaels made the highest jump in the latest polls after not being ranked the previous week. Iona also currently sits as the No. 1 team in the northeast region according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Most recently, the Iona Gaels women's cross country team placed first in the 2014 MAAC Cross Country Championship behind the performance of Kate Avery. Avery was named the MAAC’s most outstanding runner with a finishing time of 19:15.26. Following Avery was fellow Gael teammates Tara Jameson and Rosie Clarke who rounded put the top three finishers of the race.
