MAAC Announces LOC for 2015 NCAA Women's Basketball Albany Regional

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Siena College, co-hosts of the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Albany Regional at the Times Union Center March 28 and 30, have announced the formation of a Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and its honorary chairmen and committee members.

The chairman of the Albany LOC is Dan Hytko, who serves as the Section II girls' basketball chairman of New York. Hytko has also served as the head basketball coach at Cohoes High School for the past 27 years. Before Cohoes, Hytko guided the men’s basketball program at Hudson Valley Community College from 1981 to 1988. He also served as the assistant athletic director from 1977 to 1987, and was inducted into the Hudson Valley Community College Hall of Fame in 2003.

“As the chair of the Local Organizing Committee, I am enthused and full of energy for this responsibility”, said Dan Hytko, “I am excited as one can be to be a part of committee and look forward to putting our best effort into making this event successful and generating a great atmosphere in the Albany region.”

The LOC’s Committee Members include Patti Bayly, Ashley Jeffery of Girls Inc., Managing Partner of NorthWestern Mutual; Alex Tronco, Youth Sports Columnist for the Times Union; Joyce Bassett, President/CEO of the Capital District YMCA; Dave Brown, Capital District Girls Youth Basketball League President; Will Von Wedel, Dan Hansen of EGB Girls Basketball, Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Operations at University of Albany; Matt Roche, Liz Pendergast of Sacred Heart of Troy, Keith Danzy of Girls Elite Youth Basketball, Michele Vennard of the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Albany County Legislator Sean Ward. 

 The LOC plays an important role in the promotion and execution of the event. Their ties to the capital district region will help support the event while exhibiting guidance and direction to assist in successfully executing the vision of the event.

"The quality of the 2015 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship Regional LOC is indicative of the high level of support the sport has in the capital district region," said MAAC Commissioner Richard J. Ensor. "The MAAC is very proud to co-host the championship and looks forward to providing a great hosting experience to the student-athletes, coaches, and fans at the Times Union Center."

The 2014-15 season culminates with the MAAC Basketball Championships at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. Tickets can be purchased here.
