Boyd, Lee, Bernstein, and Robbins Capture Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – Ben Boyd from Monmouth University is the MAAC Men’s Track Performer of the Week. The MAAC Women’s Track Performer of the Week is Jessica Lee from Quinnipiac University. Taylor Bernstein is the MAAC Men’s Field Performer of the Week, while Marisa Robbins earned the award on the women’s side.
Senior Ben Boyd from Monmouth University is the MAAC Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week. Boyd won the 300-meter dash at Sunday’s Princeton New Year’s Invitational. He defeated the 26-man field with a time of 35.40 seconds, clearing the second place finisher by .06 seconds. Along with his victory in the 300-meter dash, Boyd anchored his 4 x 400-meter relay team to a tune of 3:24.93, good for sixth place in the event.
The MAAC Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week is Freshman Jessica Lee from Quinnipiac University. At the Yale Season Opener, Lee finished in second place in the 60-meter hurdles, just .02 seconds behind the winner. Her time of 9.08 seconds set a new Quinnipiac program record. Lee also came in eleventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.68 seconds in her collegiate debut.
Senior Taylor Bernstein from Monmouth University is the MAAC Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week. Bernstein won the Princeton New Year’s Invitational weight throw with a toss of 16.98 meters, clearing the 18-man field by 10.5 inches. He also came in seventh place in the shot put with a throw of 14.99 meters.
The MAAC Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week is Sophomore Marisa Robbins from Manhattan College. In the Manhattan College Opener, Robbins took home first place in the pole vault, clearing the bar with a personal-best 3.70 meters. The vault was a full foot higher than her previous best. Robbins also defeated the second place finisher by more than a foot.
The 2015 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on February 21st at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York, N.Y.
