Lungren, Grois, & Amorosa Take Home First MAAC Weekly Awards This Season

Edison, N.J. – Jessica Lundgren of Wagner College was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Marti Grois of St. Francis Brooklyn was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week. The MAAC Rookie of the Week is Marist College’s Amanda Amorosa.
Lundgren, the MAAC Rookie of the Year in 2013 and preseason All-MAAC selection got off to a strong start in 2014, and continued her play this weekend when she totaled nine goals and 13 assists as the Seahawks won two of three games in the Princeton Invitational. The Queensland, Australia native had a career high seven assists to go along with four goals and five drawn exclusions in a 20-9 win over George Washington. Lundgren found the net three times and added five assists in the 11-8 win over Harvard, and also had two goals and one assist in the loss to Princeton.
Marti Grois, the Terriers freshman goalie, started off her career in a strong way with three games posting double digit saves. Grois averages only 9.67 goals against and 16 saves per game, currently leading the MAAC. Grois highlighted her weekend with 19 saves against Gannon University and 17 saves against Notre Dame College.
Amanda Amorosa leads the Red Foxes thus far in the season with 14 goals in eight games. The freshman posted three goals to lead Marist in their loss to UCSD at the UCSD Invite. Amorosa compiled five goals, two assists, two steals and a field block in four games last weekend.
