Brudge, Lungren, & Amorosa Take Home MAAC Weekly Awards

Edison, N.J. – Jessica Burdge was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Jessica Lundgren of Wagner College was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week. The MAAC Rookie of the Week is Marist College’s Amanda Amorosa.

 Wagner’s leading scorer was at it again, when Jessica Burdge had 14 goals and seven assists in four games for the Seahawks. In a 15-8 win over George Washington, the junior had five goals and one assist. Burdge followed that up with two goals and four assists in a 20-6 win over Villanova. The Seahawk scored three times against Michigan and four times against UCSD in games that Wagner lost by a combined two goals. On the season, Burdge leads the Green and White with 32 goals on 64 shots, and is second on the team with 44 points. 

 Last weeks’ reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the week had another big week in the pool, as Lundgren helped lead Wagner to two wins. Aside from scoring six goals and adding 14 assists for 20 points, the sophomore came up with 22 steals and 10 drawn exclusions on the defensive end. Lundgren had a career high 11 steals to go along with three drawn exclusions in the 15-8 win over George Washington. The Aussie had five steals and three drawn exclusions in a 10-9 loss to #13 UCSD, and four steals and two drawn exclusions in a 9-8 loss to #20 Michigan.

 Amorosa scored the second most goals for Marist this past weekend at the Bucknell Invite. Against the Bison’s, the rookie helped to keep Marist in the game with her three goals. Over the four-game span, she compiled six goals and six assists for 12 points, while also posting three steals, and a field block.
