Player of the Week
Vincent Citro - Siena
Sr., IF, 6-3, 190, Montclair, N.J./Montclair
The MAAC’s Player of the Week is senior infielder Vincent Citro of Siena. Citro hit .500 in Siena’s season-opening series at Central Florida, with his highlight performance coming in the series finale when he went 4-for-5 with a bases-clearing hit that staked the Saints to an early 4-0 lead. Citro went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the middle game of the series. The leadoff man for the Saints went 6-for-12 at the plate with a .538 on-base percentage and a .583 slugging percentage. He was also outstanding in the field, recording 16 putouts and four assists at first base and right field.
Pitcher of the Week
Rohn Pierce - Canisius
Jr., RHP, 6-3, 210, Lockport, N.Y./Newfane
The MAAC’s Pitcher of the Week is Rohn Pierce of Canisius. Pierce outdueled All-American Carlos Rodon in the season opener as he threw seven shutout innings in the team’s 3-0 win over No. 5/8 North Carolina State. Pierce scattered five singles, walked one and struck out six on 101 pitches. The 6-foot-3 right-hander didn’t allow a base runner past second base. After allowing the first two batters to reach, Pierce retired 21 of the next 25 batters he faced.
Rookie of the Week
Dan Swain - Siena
Fr., OF, 6-0, 175, Newton, Mass./Newton North
The MAAC’s Rookie of the Week is Dan Swain of Siena. Swain began his Siena career in a memorable way, slugging a home run in his first collegiate at bat at Central Florida, his first hit in the opening weekend.. Swain batted .500 with a .750 slugging percentage in the three-game series with the Black Knights, hitting safely in all three games. Swain followed up his home run in the opener with two hits and a pair of RBI in the Saturday game, and three hits and a run scored on Sunday. For the week he went 6-for-12 with three RBI with three runs scored.
