EDISON, N.J. – Senior guard Billy Baron was named Corvias ECAC Metro/Upstate Player of the Week, the ECAC announced today.

Baron averaged 37.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists as he led the Golden Griffins to a pair of road wins. In the 71-65 victory at Niagara, Baron scored a game-high 34 points, hitting 10-of-16 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the foul line. Baron was good on six consecutive free throws in the final 29 seconds to secure the victory. In the Golden Griffs’ triple-overtime win at Siena, Baron scored a career-high 40 points as Canisius notched a 92-88 victory. Baron went 10-for-24 from the field and knocked down 18-of-19 free-throws, establishing a single-game record for free throws made in the Times Union Center.

Baron became the first Canisius player since December of 1978 to score 40 or more points in a game. Baron also grabbed 10 rebounds for the fifth “double-double” of his career. Baron played in all 55 minutes in the triple overtime win at Siena, and he averaged 46.5 minutes in the two games.
