Monmouth Wins 2014 MAAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship

New York, N.Y. - The Monmouth men's team captured its first title at the 2014 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championship at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.
The Hawks won the meet with a score of 169. Manhattan finished second with 110 points. Iona finished in third with 108 points. Rider followed in fourth with 102 points. Saint Peter’s finished in fifth with 93 points. Canisius and Marist followed.
Saint Peter’s Isaiah Harris was named the Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. He placed first in the long jump with an 7.23 meter effort. He followed that with a first place finish in the triple jump with a performance of 15.44 meters. He capped of his night with a record breaking first place finish in the high jump of 2.21 meters. He scored a total of 30 points for his team.
Iona’s Daniel Clorley was named the Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events. He placed first in the mile with a time of 4:08.66. He followed that performance with a first place finish in the 3,000 meters with a 8:22 effort.
New meet records include: Monmouth’s Eric Kahana 6.94 time in the 60M dash and Saint Peter’s Isaiah Harris high jump of 2.21M. Iona’s distance medley relay of King, Kochanek, Miller and Gillespie broke last year’s record also set by Iona with a time of 9:55.64.
