Laury Named Corvias ECAC Player of the Week
EDISON, N.J. – Junior forward David Laury, who led the Iona College basketball team to a 85-73 win over Manhattan College last Friday (Jan. 31), has been named Corvias ECAC Division I Metro/Upstate Player of the Week.
Laury came off the bench to lead the Gaels with 21 points, and added a team-high eight rebounds, int the win over the Jaspers. The 6-9 forward sank 6-of-7 shots from the floor, and added 9-of-11 from the foul line. Laury added three assists and a blocked shot in the decisive win.
Laury helped the Gaels extend their win streak to four, and Iona has won seven of its last nine games. Currently 9-2 in MAAC play, the Gaels face Monmouth on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Earlier this week he was selected as the MAAC's Player of the Week.
Laury currently leads the MAAC in field goal percentage, hitting .570 of his shots from the field. Laury is 22nd in the league in scoring with 12.8 points per game, and is sixth in rebounding with 7.1 rebounds per game.
