Daly, Orr, Pires & Beers Take Home MAAC Weekly Swimming & Diving Awards

Edison, N.J. – Connor Daly of Fairfield was named the MAAC men's swimmer of the week, while Bonnie Orr of Marist earned the award on the women's side. The MAAC divers of the week are the Stags Daniel Pires for the men and the Saints Hailey Beers for the women.
Daly, a sophomore, won three individual events, breaking program records in all three, to lead the Stags in their meet against Iona on February 1. Daly started the day by breaking his own record in the 200 meter butterfly with a winning time of 2:09.12. His previous best was 2:11.65 which he clocked earlier in the season. He also broke his own record in the 100 meter butterfly with a winning time of 58.19 seconds. His previous best was 58.78 seconds which he also set earlier this year. He closed out the day by breaking his own record in the 200 meter individual medley with a winning time of 2:11.34. His previous mark was 2:11.68 which he set last season. He also swam lead leg in the 200 meter medley relay which finished second with a time of 1:52.27, completing his split in 28.68 seconds.
The Red Foxes’ Bonnie Orr swam a personal best, while taking first place in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.62. Orr also placed second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.45 and the 500 yard freestyle finishing in 5:16.22. She was also a part of the second-place 400 yard freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 3:40.05.
Daniel Pires, a freshman from Fairfield University, captured both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards for the Stags at their home meet against Iona on February 1. Pires placed first on the 1-meter with a score of 255.45 and recorded a first place score of 266.00 on the 3-meter board.
In Siena’s meet this weekend, Beers continued to dominate the boards for the Saints. In only her second week diving this season, Beers won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events for the Saints. Beers won the one-meter dive with a score of 208.00 and continued her dominance on the three-meter board too, scoring a season high 242.20 to help the Saints sweep the boards.
