Rodriguez, Conrath, & Riddle Awarded Weekly Water Polo Honors

Edison, N.J. – Following a great week of competition, the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week is Megan Rodriguez of Wagner College. The MAAC Defensive Player of the Week is Villanova’s goalkeeper Julie Conrath, while the MAAC Rookie of the Week is Emily Riddle of Wagner College.
Megan Rodriguez was instrumental in two Wagner wins in three games over this past weekend. The sophomore totaled nine goals, six assists, eight steals, two drawn exclusions, and one field block over three games for the Seahawks. Rodriguez had four goals and one assist in a 13-12 overtime loss to Santa Clara, but rebounded later that day with one goal, two assists, and three steals in a 10-7 win over Hartwick. The following day, the California native scored four goals and tallied three assists to go along with four steals, leading Wagner to a 13-4 win over Brown University, helping Wagner to revenge a 12-9 loss to the Bears from February 2nd.
Villanova’s Julie Conrath was a key member of the Wildcats as they went 1-1 last week. Against Whittier, Conrath made 12 saves and recorded two steals as the Poets stifled the Villanova offense and kept the team off the scoreboard in the second half. The following day, Conrath made 18 saves, leading the team to a 7-5 victory over Chapman. Villanova went into halftime down 3-2, but Conrath kept her team in the game as the Wildcats made a comeback in the second half and took the lead. Conrath has played in 11 games this season, making 105 total saves.
Emily Riddle helped Wagner to two wins in three games this past weekend at the Harvard Invitational. The freshman had eight saves in the lone Seahawk loss, an overtime clash with Santa Clara in which Wagner fell 13-12. In the 10-7 win over Hartwick, Riddle posted eight saves and two steals. In the 13-4 win over Brown, the Edmonton, Alberta native had seven saves, while allowing the Bears in the net only four times, and recorded one assist.
