Player of the Week

Carly Argyle – Iona

Jr., P, Glendora, CA/Glendora

Junior Carly Argyle hit .462 at the plate over five games for the Gaels at the Michelle Smith Spring Break Tournament at USF.  Argyle connected on six hits and drove in one run. Argyle opened the weekend with a 2-3 effort in the Gaels' win over Providence, with one run batted in.  Argyle had one hit in games against Florida A&M and Butler before a 2-3 effort, including a double, against UMass.

In the circle, Argyle posted a 2-1 record, recording complete games in all three starts, posting an earned run average of 1.67 and striking out 16.  Against Providence, Argyle went seven innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out seven.  Against Buffalo, Argyle took a hard luck loss, allowing two runs and five hits in another seven inning complete game effort.  Argyle wrapped up the weekend with another win, allowing three runs and six hits in seven innings to go along with seven strikeouts in a 5-3 Iona win.

 Pitcher of the Week
Jennifer Sansano – Niagara

Sr., P, Clarence, N.Y./St. Bonaventure
 

Jennifer Sansano improved to 5-1 on the season by tossing two complete game wins at the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational last weekend. Sansano struck out four while allowing four hits and two earned runs in Niagara’s 5-3 win over the host, UMBC, on Saturday. The following day, Sansasno was dominant again, striking out five and allowing two earned runs as NU defeated Hampton 9-2. In two appearances, Sansano had a 2.00 ERA, nine strikeouts, four earned runs and allowed 10 hits in 14 innings.

Rookie of the Week
Jenn Vazquez – Manhattan

Fr., C/1B, Fairfield, Conn./St. Joseph’s

Vazquez had two hits, including a three-run homer, in game one of the Jaspers’ doubleheader sweep of Hartford on Tuesday.  She also smacked a double and scored twice against Brown on Saturday.  Vazquez hit .353 for the week and got at least one hit in each of the five games she started.
