Justin Thomas, Rider University
Jr., 1B, 6-4, 215, Richboro, PA/Council Rock South
In four games last week Thomas batted .500 with seven hits, including 2 doubles and 2 home runs. Thomas ended the week with 8 runs batted in, 2 walks, a stolen base and a sac fly. Thomas was stellar in the field converting all of his 38 chances with zero errors.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
Sean Abbate, Manhattan College
Jr., RHP, Levittown, NY
Abbate was brilliant in relief against NYIT on Wednesday, throwing 5 1/3 hitless innings to help lift the Jaspers to a 2-0 win at Brooklyn's MCU Park. Abbate allowed just one hit batter during his stellar performance. He struck out seven batters and ultimately earned his first victory of the season.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Dan Swain, Siena College
Fr., OF, R/R, 6-0, 175, Newton, Mass./ Newton North
Swain continued his fast star with another solid week, batting .389 with a .611 slugging percentage in five games against high caliber opponents. He began the week with a 2-for-4 game in a 15-9 loss at regional power Georgia State. Swain homered and drove in three runs in the victory. He had a three-hit game in the series finale at Ohio State – the most hits by any player for either team in the game. Swain drew two walks on the week to post a .450 on-base percentage in 20 plate appearances and had 12 putouts without an error in centerfield.
