Player of the Week
Connor Panas – Canisius
Jr., 3B, 6-0, 212, Toronto, Ontario/Etobicoke Collegiate Institute
The MAAC’s Player of the Week is Connor Panas. In four Canisius victories last week, Panas hit .417 with seven RBI, as all five of his hits went for extra bases – two doubles, two triples and a walk-off home run. The junior third baseman hit a two-run homer to right field to give Canisius a 12-11 win over Buffalo. Panas recorded at least one hit and one RBI in each game while scoring a run in three of the four games. Panas also had two walks to go along with a 1.167 slugging percentage.
Pitcher of the Week
Michael Martin – Manhattan
Jr., LHP, 6-1, 190, Massapequa, N.Y./Chaminade
The MAAC’s Pitcher of the Week is Michael Martin. The junior lefty tossed a complete-game shutout, his first career complete game, in Manhattan's 9-0 win over Quinnipiac in the series finale on Sunday. The junior southpaw was terrific on Sunday, working quickly and getting a number of ground ball outs. Martin was very efficient, averaging just over 10 pitches an inning, and scattered just three singles over 102 pitches without allowing an extra base hit. He walked just two batters to earn his first win of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Thomas Jankins - Quinnipiac
Fr., RHP, 6-3, 200, West Brookfield, Mass./Quaboag Regional
The MAAC’s Rookie of the Week Is Thomas Jankins, who picked up his team-leading second win of the season with a masterpiece against Manhattan in Quinnipiac’s first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game in program history. Jankins hurled eight shut-out innings while striking out 10 – also a Quinnipiac freshman record – in a 4-0 win against the Jaspers. Jankins scattered five hits in the gem, allowing just seven baserunners in the game and retiring eight straight batters at one point.
