Lundgren, Henry & Amorosa Awarded Weekly Water Polo Honors

Edison, N.J. – Following the start of MAAC competition this week, the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week is Jessica Lundgren of Wagner College. The MAAC Defensive Player of the Week is Marist’s goalkeeper Skyler Henry, while the MAAC Rookie of the Week is another Red Fox, Amanda Amorosa.
Lundgren totaled eight goals, two assists, 17 steals, five drawn exclusions, and one field block as Wagner earned two wins to start off MAAC play. In the 16-4 Seahawk win over Siena, the sophomore tallied three goals and seven steals, helping Wagner to earn their first MAAC victory of the season. In the second game of the day Lundgren lead Wagner to an overtime win over Iona. The Aussie had one of her five goals and one of her two assists in overtime, helping the Seahawks to the 13-12 win. She also came up with a career-high ten steals, along with one field block and five drawn exclusions in the overtime win.
Henry, the sophomore goalkeeper, notched two victories this past weekend as Marist claimed wins over two MAAC foes. In the win over Villanova, Henry compiled 12 saves and one steal, while moving on to post 10 saves over St. Francis Brooklyn. In the team’s 23 games this season, Henry boasts a 9.04 goals against average, as well as a .435 save percentage.
Amorosa led the Red Foxes in both victories over MAAC foes Villanova and St. Francis Brooklyn this week. Against the Wildcats, Amorosa found the back of the net twice as she compiled four assists in the outing. Later that day, she led the Red Foxes to their victory over St. Francis Brooklyn when she notched five goals for Marist. Amorosa is tied for the team lead with 45 goals in 23 games, as she has led Marist in a majority of their games this season.
