MAAC Honors Rowing Weekly Awards

Women's Varsity Eight:
Marist College Varsity Eight also took first place for Marist at the Spring Metro with a time of 7:19.9. The boat beat out Fairfield, RMU, Iona, Geneseo and Sacred Heart. The boat consisted of senior Zoe Christopher, senior Flavia Siclovan, junior Elizabeth Hehir, junior Annie Devorak, junior Stephanie Moriarty, sophomore Brittany Morrissey, sophomore Jenn Keen, freshman Julia Rigothi and sophomore Jessica Collins.
Women's Second Varsity Eight:
The Fairfield University women’s crew raced to victory at last weekend’s Spring Metropolitan Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta, crossing the line with a time of 7:51.7. The Stags defeated MAAC competitor Marist by nearly four seconds and conference opponent Robert Morris by 12-plus seconds. The crew consisted of Nicole Antonucci, Amanda Murphy, Victoria Vesce, Avery Adams, Jaclyn Ozyjowski, Samantha Clifford, Kim Ginsburg, Melissa Iannucci, and Jeannette Eckelman. The Stags went on to capture the Spring Met women’s team championship.
Women's Varsity Four:
The Drake University varsity 4 boat of cox Jacque Nowers, Jessica Nightser, Katie Serbin , Alex Lueck, and Emily Householter took first place in its race to cap the 2014 Lubbers Cup for the Drake University rowing team on Sunday and secured Drake University's first place win.
Men's Varsity Eight:
After posting a pair of wins two weekends ago, the Fairfield Stags men’s varsity 8 collected its third straight victory with its first-place finish at the Spring Metropolitan Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta. The shell crossed the finish line with a time of 6:44.0, more than 13 seconds faster than runner up Iona. The men’s varsity 8 included coxswain Olivia Vita, Tom Siddall, Alex Nowicki, Brendan Spearing, Luke Auger, Charlie Serpa, Floris-Jan Floris, Herbie Marache, and Bobby Lawler.
Men's Second Varsity Eight:
The Marist College Second Varsity Eight boat took first place for Marist, finishing the race in 6:11.06. The boat beat out Bucknell, Rollins College, Rutgers, and George Mason. In the Grand Final, the Red Foxes placed third (6:11.98), behind Drexel and Hobart. The boat placed ahead of Bucknell, Delaware Lwt and Trinity. In the petite final, the boat placed first with a time of 6:12.36. In this competition, Marist placed ahead of Trinity, Rutgers, Boston College, Saint Joseph’s and George Mason. The boat consisted of freshman Dylan Galimi, junior Evan Heaton, junior Cameron Schuh, freshman Jack Brown, freshman Luke Bossalini, junior Conor Wiggins, senior Chris Bissetta, senior Doug Woolley, and sophomore Kyle Mikesh.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Rowing Championships will be held on April 26th at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
