Marist Wins MAAC Rowing Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ- Marist College claims both the women's varsity eight and second varsity eight MAAC Rowing weekly awards this week.
Women's Varsity Eight:
At the Iona Invite, the Varsity Eight placed second with a time of 6:46.53, just six seconds behind Fordham. The boat beat out fellow Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Fairfield to kick off the competition. In the second bout of races for the day, the Varsity Eight took a first-place finish for the Red Foxes. The boat defeated Lehigh as well as MAAC competitor Robert Morris. The boat consisted of senior Zoe Christopher, senior Flavia Siclovan, junior Elizabeth Hehir, junior Annie Devorak, sophomore Jennifer Keen, sophomore Brittany Morrissey, junior Stephanie Moriarty, freshman Julia Rigothi and sophomore Jessica Collins.
Women's Second Varsity Eight:
At the Iona Invite, the Second Varsity Eight boat finished in 7:12.04, also ahead of Fairfield and behind Fordham. In the second bout of races for the day, the boat went on to complete the heat in 7:32.97, falling behind to Lehigh by 12 seconds. The boat defeated conference foe Robert Morris in the race. The boat consisted of Sophomore Erica Bogdan, junior Kristin Wilson, junior Kira Melendez, freshman Astrid Skjaerpe, senior Meg Ladouceur, sophomore Ali Shaw, junior Nora Culhane, senior Theresa Filippinni, and freshman Katherine Perry.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Rowing Championships will be held on April 26th at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
