Final Set of 2014 MAAC Weekly Rowing Awards Announced

Women's Varsity Eight:
The Marist Varsity Eight took first place for the Red Foxes with a time of 5:53.0. The team defeated Army by 10 seconds, as well as Iona by 12 seconds. The boat consisted of senior coxswain Zoe Christopher, senior Flavia Siclovan, junior Elizabeth Hehir, junior Annie Devorak, junior Stephanie Moriarty, sophomore Brittany Morrissey, sophomore Jennifer Keen, freshman Julia Rigothi, and sophomore Jessica Collins.
Women's Second Varsity Eight:
In the same event, the Marist Second Varsity Eight placed fourth for Marist with a time of 6:08.7. The boat consisted of sophomore coxswain Erica Bogdan, junior Kristin Wilson, junior Nora Culhane, freshman Astrid Skjaerpe, senior Meg Ladouceur, sophomore Ali Shaw, freshman Katherine Perry, senior Theresa Fillippini, and junior Kira Melendez.
Women's Varsity Four:
The Red Foxes kept up with the first-place finishes, as the Varsity Four won with a time of 6:09.36. The boat consisted of freshman coxswain Alexis Batulis, freshman Kimberly Foster, freshman Carrie Rapp, junior Danielle Villa, and senior Kristin Mahoney.
Men's Varsity Eight:
The Marist Varsity Eight defeated both Army and Iona at the President's Cup Regetta, winning the event with a time of 5:09.00. The men's team built off this performance to win the team title for the second year in a row.
Men's Second Varsity Eight:
The Marist Second Varsity Eight A and B boats came in first and second place, respectively. Marist A finished the race in 5:02.00, while Marist B placed with a time of 5:13.00.
Men's Varsity Four:
Rowing in their SIRA semifinal heat, the Jacksonville Varsity Four cruised to a second place finish in 7:09.7. In the final, the Dolphins were nipped out of the medal standings by less than a second as the College of Charleston outpaced the other crews in 6:59.6 and was followed by Duke (7:01.5), Georgia Tech (7:05.0), and JU (7:05.8). Marissa Chodrow coxed the boat and it seated Erik Fournier, Andrew Bechtold, Shane Kennedy, and Troy Troupe.
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Rowing Championships will be held on April 26th at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
