Edison, NJ –Monmouth University's Zach Torrell and Kate Frye were named the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week for April 28th.

Zach Torrell unleashed a throw of 223’1” in the college javelin event at the Penn Relays this past weekend. His toss was good enough to earn him third place in the field, and he joins fellow javelin throwers McLean Lipschutz and Vincent DuVernois in anchoring down a strong Monmouth javelin group that has seen Lipschutz and DuVernois combine for multiple MAAC and ECAC honors so far this year. Torrell also joins his teammates with a No. 33 national ranking on the NCAA Division I Qualifying List.

Kaye Frye was part of a pair of groups this past weekend that put together some special performances. The Monmouth women’s 4x100 relay team put together a masterful performance at the Penn Relays, finishing in 45.89 seconds in the Eastern 4x100 event, just .02 seconds behind the winner, UConn, to claim second. Frye also was a member of the women’s shuttle hurdles group that finished in seventh in 58.12 seconds and setting a new school record in the process.

The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held on May 3rd and 4th at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
