Player of the Week

Vincent Guglietti - Quinnipiac

Jr., 1B, 6-5, 220, East Haven, Conn./East Haven

The MAAC Player of the Week is Vincent Guglietti of Quinnipiac. Guglietti sparked the Bobcats, going 6-for-9, and hitting .667 with four RBI and six runs scored. Guglietti had a big day in Quinnipiac’s 11-5 win at Dartmouth, reaching base all five times going 4-for-4 at the plate. He belted his first home run of the season, drove in two runs, scored three times and also drew a walk. Guglietti also reached base all four times in the 6-4 win at Niagara on Sunday. He was 1-for-1 with an RBI and three runs score while drawing three walks. Guglietti had an RBI in the first game of the Niagara series.  

Pitcher of the Week

Kyle Kennett – Rider  

Sr., P, 6-1, 190, Spring Lake, N.J. /St. Rose

The MAAC Pitcher of the Week is Kyle Kennett of Rider. In a 9-1 conference victory over Marist, Kennett scattered six hits, struck out four and did not yield a walk. Kennett allowed one unearned run in the victory. The victory came in the third game against Marist, giving Rider the series two games to one. As Rider staked Kennett to a six run lead in the first, and added three more in the second, Kennett relied primarily on his fastball and slider and was able to be more aggressive on the mound.

 

Rookie of the Week

Dan Hopkins - Fairfield

Fr., OF, 6-1, 195, Kings Park, N.Y./St. Dominic

The MAAC Rookie of the Week is Dan Hopkins of Fairfield. Hopkins came through in the clutch for the Stags in their 4-1 week. He hit .444 (4-for-9) with four RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Against NYIT, Hopkins went 1-for-1 with an RBI on a sac fly, and scored a run. In the 3-2 win at Northeastern, Hopkins drove in the go-ahead run with a one-out single in the eighth inning. In a 4-2 loss to Canisius on Saturday, Hopkins helped the Stags’ ninth inning rally with a pinch-hit RBI single. In the 4-3 victory on Saturday, Hopkins was in the starting lineup, going 1-for-2 with an RBI, a walk, and a run scored. He was responsible for two of the Stags’ runs in the fourth inning, delivering an RBI single and later scoring on a passed ball. In Fairfield’s 4-3 victory on Sunday, Hopkins pinch hit in the fifth inning, was hit by a pitch and later scored the game-tying run.
